 Taiwan Paphiopedilum Society (TPS) has dedicated itself to the breeding, cultivation and market promotion of Taiwan Paphiopedilum orchids since its establishment close to 20 years ago. They are one of the central organizations involved in the development and promotion of Taiwan Paphiopedilum industry. Early on, TPS introduced fine varieties of Paphiopedilum for sale in markets in Europe, the U.S. and Japan. A wealth of native Paphiopedilum varieties has been introduced from China and Southeast Asia to form the major development foundation for the Taiwan Paphiopedilum industry.
Over the past few years, TPS has been hard at work promoting Taiwan’s Paphiopedilum orchid industry. In addition to holding 10 to 12 domestic road shows each year, TPS is also an enthusiastic participant in many international flower shows. At the 2010 Taiwan International Orchid Show (TIOS), TPS won a Gold Medal Certificate from the American Orchid Society and Show Trophy honors which is strong recognition of the exceptional quality of Taiwan’s Paphiopedilum orchids and the intensive effort made by TPS in this field.
TPS holds domestic Paphiopedilum orchid judging meetings on a monthly basis and uses international accepted judging standards to select international grade Paphiopedilum orchids from Taiwan. Through regular judging and competitions, domestic growers can exchange cultivation technology and raise the quality and standard of Paphiopedilum orchids in Taiwan. In addition, TPS and the AOS use cross- certification between international organizations to promote excellent Paphiopedilum orchid varieties from Taiwan around the world.
